This past Monday Lucia’s had it’s December cooking show celebrating the Feast of the Seven Fishes.
The Feast of the Seven Fishes (festa dei sette pesci), celebrated on Christmas Eve, also known as The Vigil (La Vigilia), is believed to have originated in Southern Italy and is not a known tradition in many parts of Italy.
Today, it is a feast that typically consists of seven different seafood dishes. Some Italian American families have been known to celebrate with 9, 11 or 13 different seafood dishes. This celebration is a commemoration of the wait, Vigilia di Natale, for the midnight birth of the baby Jesus.

For course number one we had Mezzanotte with spinach and cranberries
Chef Mark did an awesome job this Monday dedicating the second course; crab cakes with roasted red pepper, lemon and wine sauce, to the feast of the Seven Fishes.
For the third course the guest had stuffed cabbage rolls braised in tomato sauce
And this is what I call the KNOCKOUT ROUND. For the fourth course, Chef Mark made Italian sipping chocolate with Italian cookies!
THANKS FOR WATCHING! “Buon Natale” and a “Sweet New Year” from Lucia’s Tavola!
